Coating cost questions

How much does floor coating cost per square foot?
Professionally installed coatings run $4 to $12 per square foot. Solid color epoxy sits at the low end, epoxy with a polyaspartic topcoat lands near $6 to $10, and full polyaspartic flake systems run $7 to $12.
Why do two quotes for the same garage differ by thousands?
Prep depth and chemistry. Diamond grinding, crack repair, and moisture testing are labor hours a cheap bid deletes, and 100 percent solids polyaspartic costs several times more per gallon than thinned water based epoxy.
Is a professional coating cheaper than a DIY kit long term?
Usually. A $700 DIY floor lasting three years costs about $233 a year. A $3,600 polyaspartic floor lasting 18 years costs about $200 a year and never takes the garage out of service twice.
What should a complete coating quote include?
Diamond grinding, crack and spall repair, moisture testing, primer, the coating system, flake or quartz broadcast, the topcoat, and cleanup. Missing line items are the reason a low number looks low.
Do coating prices change by region?
Labor rates and slab conditions move the range. Desert markets deal with hot slabs and fast cure windows, Gulf Coast markets deal with vapor drive, and both push prep and primer costs above the national midpoint.
